Trucking from China (CN) to Kazakhstan (KZ) via Sino-Kazakh land port Khorgos is a new service of the international transport holding AsstrA. The new service is an addition to AsstrA’s usual schemes (by air, sea, and railway) of a cargo delivery from China and is aimed to reduce the transit time of the delivery not only to Kazakhstan, but to the other countries of Eastern and Western Europe. 

A trial shipment was operated in January 2012. Seven tons of the hazardous cargo Heptafluoropropane (HFC227EA) was delivered from Shanghai (CN) to Almaty (KZ) with two transshipments in Urumqi (CN) and Khorgos (KZ), an international center for transfrontier cooperation at the Kazakhstan and China border in Almaty region.

The shipment opened a new actual service and increased the logistics product portfolio of AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG. First, the Chinese branch of AsstrA selected agents for cross-docking operations such as warehouses, customs brokers and trucking companies in Urumqi and Khorgos and arranged initial storage, loading supervision and delivery to Khorgos. The Kazakhstan office of AsstrA was responsible for cargo loading from Khorgos partner’s warehouse and delivery to Almaty. A new scheme allows delivering goods from Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to all cities in Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, the Ukraine. Poland and other countries of Eastern and Western Europe.

According to Sergey Luksha, Manager of the Chinese branch of AsstrA Logistics AG, ‘this scheme is suitable for LTL (less than truck load) shipments with short lead time requirements. Transit time from Shanghai to Khorgos is usually around 8 days. Due to heavy snow the trial delivery took 10 days’.
