Ukrainian Supreme Rada has adopted joining the European Agreement on the International Transportation of Dangerous Cargoes via Internal Waterways.

"Interfax-Ukraine" has reported that 344 deputies from 439 voted for this decision. Joining this agreement by Ukraine will promote establishment of legal regulation in transportation of dangerous cargoes via the republic’s internal waters. In particular, unified norms and requirements to safety in transportation of such cargoes will be applied, European Union on traffic safety standards will be introduced, the country will become able to fully participate in functioning of the European river transport system (Danube, Rhine and Dnepr), including, Euroasian transport corridors, and to preserve the environment by elimination of pollution because of failures and emergencies at transportation.
